GET OFF THE WAITLIST (GO)
Being waitlisted in not a rejection; it is actually an acceptance based on one important condition – space. Yet, given the increasingly fierce competition for college acceptances, the spots that actually do become available are fewer each year.
Maintaining a realistic outlook about moving off the waitlist is prudent. Nonetheless, the waitlisted or deferred student does have an opportunity to lobby for admission. This must be done carefully and strategically.
Together with the student, our admissions advisors identify the most effective ways in which he or she can appeal to the admissions office. This may entail additional letters, requesting an interview, or providing a variety of personal information that convinces admissions committees that this is the student who should “get off” the waitlist.
